MY PROCESS

MY THOUGHTS ON …

USER RESEARCH

Understanding the problem and its purpose is the first step in effective user research. Asking the right questions is crucial to gathering meaningful insights. By collecting user perspectives, reactions, feedback, and ideas, you can gain a deeper understanding of their motivations, ensuring a user-centered approach to problem-solving.

QUALITATIVE INTERVIEWS

Interviews should be open-ended and semi-structured, allowing for a natural flow of conversation. Questions don’t need to follow a strict order—if one response answers a later question, it can be skipped. The key is to remain neutral and avoid influencing participants. Instead of agreeing, the interviewer should use responses like, “That’s very helpful” or “Thank you for your thoughts” to encourage open and honest feedback.

USER EMPATHY

True user empathy starts with staying faithful to research insights. It’s about understanding the user’s perspective, identifying with their needs, and advocating for them. As designers, every decision we make can either help or hinder the user experience. This requires setting aside personal biases and imagining the user’s reality—an essential but challenging part of creating meaningful, user-centered designs.
